Emil Jones, retired President of the Illinois Senate, Chair of the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority and President/CEO – Strategic International Group, hit the right note in discussing politics (both big ‘P’ and little ‘p’) at the local, county and state levels. President Jones shared his experiences in mentoring President Barack Obama and playing a key part in the making of a president. It was refreshing to hear one of our own speak to the need to think and plan strategically in order to achieve one’s political goals.
Additionally at this Breakfast COAL President Clarence Wood introduced “The Illinois Report 2012”, produced by UIC’s Institute of Government and Public Policy, which provides research and analysis on the toughest issues facing Illinois. COAL distributed copies of the Report to those in attendance and asked that attendees read through the report and formulate questions/comments for an upcoming Breakfast where we will discuss the report in greater detail. “The Illinois Report 2012” can be found here.
