April 2nd Breakfast – Chicago Heal, Healing a Community’s Trauma
Last fall, COAL hosted a panel of experts for a conversation on Mental Health and the Black Community, recognizing that mental health is a topic that requires much discussion across our community; from the impact of violence in our neighborhoods and the stress of implicit/explicit racial bias, to the lack of sufficient school counseling services and Illinois’ reduction in the number of mental health facilities and the funding of mental health support services.
Stepping into the gap of insufficient avenues of support for the community, three individuals have joined together to co-host an hour-long talk radio show that supports and promotes mental health healing from past and ongoing trauma from violence, for families and the community.
COAL is honored to host the Honorable La Shawn K. Ford, State Representative – 8th District, Ms. Meleika Gardner, Founder of Evanston Live TV and Mr. Revin Fellows, Community Activist, for a conversation on the ways in which CHICAGO HEAL is helping to heal a community’s trauma.
Please join COAL this Saturday, April 2nd for an engaging and informative Breakfast
