May Breakfast – Illinois Prison System / Register / May is…

When we examine systems that have a disproportionate impact on Black lives and Black communities, the American prison system must be included in our conversation.

For the May Coalition Power Breakfast, COAL turns its focus on the prison system here in Illinois; the healthcare of the incarcerated, particularly as it relates to the pandemic, the state of incarcerated women, the care of the younger population and importantly, re-entry, the re-integration of detainees back into our communities once sentences are completed. How do we make re-integration work for the returning individuals and the communities receiving them?

COAL is honored to host Rob Jeffreys, Director – Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), for this important conversation.

Also, in this issue: The coalition for a registered, informed, and civically-engaged Community grows. All, both organizations and individuals, are welcome to join the movement.
