Mississippi needs Our Help
Many are aware of the devastation wrought by tornadoes to areas of Mississippi on March 23, 2023. A couple of the towns that are nearly wiped out have majority Black populations, like Rolling Fork (80%) and Silver City (71%). Our people are in need of major assistance.
Chicago Minister Charles Rogers (773.238.6688), who is from the area, is organizing support and is traveling down to Mississippi today.
COAL is working with community activist Doris Lewis who is collecting donations and will travel down to Mississippi on Tuesday, April 4th. All donations will go to the purchase of basic necessities.
COAL asks that its members and others reach out to businesses and organizations they have relationships with, to inform them of the need to support the residents of these two towns and other areas in Mississippi, as they struggle to recover from the devastation of recent tornadoes.
Respectfully,
COAL Board of Directors
