July 8th Power Breakfast and July 11th Hiring Event

Please join us virtually for the July 8th Coalition Power Breakfast. COAL is honored to host Ms. Karen Freeman-Wilson, President and CEO of the Chicago Urban League (CUL), for a conversation on CUL’s recently released State of Black Chicago 2023.

This report highlights significant disparities in the educational, economic and health outcomes between Black and white residents in Chicago.
and

predicts that local businesses will close, public schools in Black neighborhoods will continue to underperform and Black residents will be pushed out of their neighborhoods if inequity isn’t addressed.

Some of the solutions provided by the Urban League are job opportunity programs for the unemployed, direct cash payments, and making prep ACT or SAT courses more accessible.

This may be the baseline against which we should measure the performance of Mayor Brandon Johnson and the recently seated City Council (particularly the Black Caucus), four years hence.

We look forward to you joining and participating in an engaging conversation on the State of Black Chicago. And we look forward to assisting many in their search for that next career move.

Respectfully,
