Chicago Elected School Board Candidates to Start Filing Nomination Petitions to Appear on the November 5th Ballot

WHERE: Chicago Voting Supersite, 191 N. Clark (Clark & Lake)
WHEN: Monday, June 17, 2024 – 9:00am start; media & candidates in line will be welcomed inside before the start time
WHO: Candidates for the Chicago Elected School Board
WHAT: Candidates for the office of Member of the Chicago Board of Education will file original nomination papers with the Chicago Board of Elections. Candidates seeking the first position on the ballot who line up before 9:00am will be included in a ballot placement lottery to be scheduled in the near future. As required by new state law, the Board of Elections shall receive and file only those nominating petitions that include a statement of candidacy, the required number of signatures, the notarized signatures of petition circulators, and a timely receipt of filing for a statement of economic interests. Board staff will check petitions for those required documents and for the required minimum of 1,000 signatures before the nomination papers can be accepted for filing. (Board staff will not be checking the validity of individual signatures).

The petition filing period runs from Monday, June 17 through Monday, June 24. The last day to file objections to nomination papers of School Board candidates is Monday, July 1, 2024. The Chicago Electoral Board will meet in early July 2024 to consider objections to Chicago Elected School Board candidates.

Monday, June 17 – CBOE Supersite, 191 N. Clark St.
Tuesday, June 18 – CBOE Offices, 69 W. Washington, 6th Floor
Wednesday, June 19 – Offices closed for Juneteenth
Thursday, June 20 – CBOE Offices, 69 W. Washington, 6th Floor
Friday, June 21 – CBOE Offices, 69 W. Washington, 6th Floor
Monday, June 24 – CBOE Supersite, 191 N. Clark St.
